Sharing the Savior’s Story
Honest Look
Do you think you don’t need to be a new creature, reborn in Jesus’ love?
I remember a man like that. He received great comfort that he wasn’t
as bad as others. Talking about his neighbors, he said, “I’ve
never seen such a wretched set of humans as are in this town. They are
mean, greedy, selfish, and careless. Worst of all, they never stop speaking
bad stuff about each other.”
"Is that so?” asked an acquaintance who happened to be walking
with him.
“ It is indeed,” said the man. Then, lowering his voice, so as not
to be heard by anyone else, he confided: “Here’s a good example.
Look at this fellow coming toward us! I know his face, though I cannot remember
his name. See his little weasel-like eyes, darting here and there. Look at his
mouth. You can see he spends a lot of time sneering. His small steps show his
real spirit as he slinks along. His hands in his pockets say he doesn’t
trust others from stealing him blind. I could go on.”
His companion replied, “You are very clever to see all this, but, I think
there’s something you didn’t catch. We’re coming up not to
another person, but to a mirror that’s being moved into or out of that
store.”
